1, select the time
In the planting method of Paeonia lactiflora, we should choose the appropriate planting time. Paeonia lactiflora is usually planted around September every year, because new roots will grow every autumn, so planting Paeonia lactiflora at this time is beneficial to its root system development and can make its branches and leaves more lush during the growing period.
2. Land selection and preparation
The most suitable soil for peony growth is sandy loam, not clay. When choosing terrain, it is advisable to choose flat land or gentle slope land. After selecting the land, remove the stones and weeds from the land, and then dig the soil to a depth of about 25 to 33 cm, and you can add decomposed farmyard manure as base fertilizer.
3. When planting, peony seeds can be evenly spread into the soil to a depth of about 6 cm, then covered with sand of about 4 cm, lightly stamped and watered once, and transplanted two years later. When transplanting, the bottom of Paeonia lactiflora is buried in the soil and covered with sand for about 3 cm, and the spacing between each plant is 26-32 cm.
4. Post-planting management
After peony is transplanted for 2 years, the surrounding weeds should be removed. Before winter, cultivate soil around Paeonia lactiflora to keep warm, and pour frozen water once to help it overwinter. A compound fertilizer will be applied in spring and autumn next year and around July. Usually, manure and bean cake are the main fertilizers.
