Pork prices have been falling for 15 weeks, will they continue to fall in the future?
Now it is a market economy, and the price of pigs will fall if it goes up. Can't be static. I think pork prices will definitely stop falling and pick up in the second half of the year. Now is the off-season of pork consumption, which means that consumers are more economical in consuming meat food now. There are no special circumstances, they generally don't eat pork. Most of them are vegetarians. They just fry a few dishes and buy pork when guests come. It's busy farming season, but it's usually bacon made before consumption stimulation, and few people buy fresh pork.

Generally, after the Dragon Boat Festival, the peak season of pork consumption begins. After the Mid-Autumn Festival, the temperature began to drop, and people began to eat pork, which means entering the peak season of pork consumption. During the period, I also went out to work or farmed at home and earned a few dollars. I haven't bought fresh pork for a long time. After the Mid-Autumn Festival, I will buy fresh pork one after another, and the consumption of pork will increase obviously, and the price will also rise.

Fat pigs have been declining since the beginning of the year. At the beginning of the year, the price per catty of fat pigs was about 18 yuan, but now it has dropped to about 10 yuan. Pig-raising enterprises have lost money. The main reason is that the production cost of fat pig remains high, and the bottleneck of fat pig production is the high price of piglets. At present, each piglet used for pig slaughter is about 1.500 yuan, accounting for about 40% of the production cost. At present, the fat pigs slaughtered are less than 13 yuan per catty, and they have already lost money. Before the National Day, fattening piglets bought by fat pigs were very expensive. Now newly bred sows are put into production one after another, and the price of piglets has risen and fallen. In some places, the price of piglets per catty has dropped to about 30 yuan per catty.

There are many reasons for the continuous decline in the price of fat pigs this year. First, in order to stabilize the price of pork, the National Development and Reform Commission and relevant departments organized the central reserve of frozen pork last year and this year. Last year, a total of 650,000 tons were put into use, and this year it will reach 240,000 tons. A large number of frozen pork in the central reserve will keep pork prices low. Second, the breeding enterprises did not control the number of fat pigs slaughtered from the Spring Festival to the Dragon Boat Festival. Enterprises don't understand that the production of fat pigs is different from that of industrial products. Industrial products can be stored in warehouses for a long time, but livestock products cannot be stored for a long time. They must be produced according to market demand. If supply exceeds demand, prices will rise and prices will fall.

Usually, the off-season of pork consumption after the Spring Festival will be delayed until the Dragon Boat Festival, so pig farmers will control the number of fat pigs at this stage to reduce losses. Third, in principle, the secondary fattening of fat pigs by enterprises is the main reason for the continuous decline in pig prices. After the Spring Festival, breeding enterprises found that the price of producing fat pigs continued to drop, so they hoarded fat pigs that could be slaughtered and continued to breed. Big fat pigs produce more meat than pigs slaughtered normally. Generally speaking, the meat output of two big fat pigs is equivalent to that of three normally slaughtered pigs. The second fattening makes the supply of pork exceed the demand, and the price will continue to decline. Originally, after the Spring Festival, it was the off-season of pork consumption. These two operations of the main enterprise have made the depressed pork market worse.

In the second half of the year, prices will rebound. First of all, the off-season of pork consumption will gradually end. In normal years, the consumption of pork will gradually increase after the Dragon Boat Festival, and the temperature will begin to drop during the Mid-Autumn Festival. At the same time, the college entrance examination has ended and the number of tourists has increased greatly. Pork consumption has reached a peak, and it has entered the peak season of pork consumption for one year since the Mid-Autumn Festival. With the increase of pork demand, the price of fat pigs will also increase. Second, the epidemic situation in novel coronavirus in China has been effectively controlled this year. People can go out to visit relatives and friends and have dinner with confidence, and the domestic tourism and catering industry have been rapidly restored, and pork consumption has been rapidly restored.

In the Qingming holiday just past, domestic tourism has recovered to 94.5% of the same period before the epidemic, and the number of tourists during the May Day holiday has exceeded 230 million. How much pork does the flow of so many people consume every day? The recovery of tourism has led to the recovery of the catering industry, and the consumption of pork will also pick up in an all-round way, and the price will gradually rise. Third, there are not many fat pigs left. At present, some slaughtering enterprises buy low-priced big fat pigs for storage, which can reduce a large number of fat pigs to be slaughtered, balance the supply and demand of pork and raise the price. Fourth, after the Mid-Autumn Festival, it entered the peak season of pork consumption, mainly because the catering industry picked up and the pork needed for meat processing increased greatly. After entering autumn, the temperature drops and meat processing enters the peak season. The processing volume of bacon, sausage and jar meat increases with the decrease of temperature, and the demand for pork increases greatly, and the price will also rise.
