There are four most common species, namely: sea bass, scientific name of Japanese true perch, distributed in the offshore, and estuarine seawater-freshwater confluence. Matsue River perch, also known as four-gill perch, belongs to the descending sea migratory fish, the most famous. Largemouth bass, also known as California bass, is a new species introduced from the United States. River perch, also known as red perch and five-way black, is native to the northern region of Xinjiang.
The body is long, laterally compressed, the back is slightly elevated, and the dorsal and ventral surfaces are bluntly rounded; the head is medium-sized and slightly pointed. Body length up to 102 centimeters, generally weighing 1.5-2.5 kilograms, the largest individual up to 15 kilograms or more.
Scleractinia_Corvidae is divided into three families: Temperate Bass family, of which Canada produces four species, namely, American rock bass, goldeneye bass, striped rock bass and multi-saw bass; Sunfish family, of which Canada produces 12 species, including black bass, rock bass and smallmouth bass, etc.; Sea Bass family, of which Canada produces three species, namely, yellowfin perch, seabass and snow perch.
From the above classification, it can be seen that some species are not called bass, anglers also commonly used this name to call other types of fish. Basses of the family Temperate Bassidae live in marine, brackish and fresh waters of eastern Canada, with striped rock bass having been introduced to the coast of British Columbia.
Similar to bass in the sunfish family, they have a toothed mouth, spiny fins, and generally have one gill-covered fin and two dorsal fins, with the soft-barred dorsal fin separated from the spiny dorsal fin. Species of this family are generally used for angling and are less commonly fished commercially. Bass in the sunfish family are found in southern freshwater lakes and warm and slow-moving streams, and are native to eastern waters and later introduced to Pacific waters.
The mouth has rows of teeth, a continuous dorsal fin, and scales with pectinate edges that feed on insects, freshwater crayfish, and other fish species. The black sea bass and smallmouth bass are important aquatic species in Canada. Species of the sea bass family are mostly found along the Atlantic coast and, at present, little is known about them, with the yellowfin perch having only recently been discovered in Canadian waters.
