Plant morphology: deciduous trees, spiny cylinders, often branched. Pinnate compound leaves are clustered with 6 ~16 leaflets, ovate to oblong, 3 ~ 8 cm long and1~ 2 wide.
Cm, pointed at the apex, wedge-shaped at the base, with fine teeth at the edge. Racemes are axillary and terminal, with mixed flowers; Calyx 4-lobed; Petals 4, pale yellow; Stamens 6 ~ 8; Ovary hairy along suture. The pod is flat and long, with a length of12 ~ 35 cm and a width of 2 ~ 4 cm, purple-brown, sometimes covered with white wax powder. Flowering in May and fruiting in 10.
Born by roadside, ditch and house. Location: Henan, Jiangsu, Hubei and Guangxi.
Picking: thorns can be cut off with a knife or sliced and dried all year round.
Description: The intact spines are often branched, sometimes subdivided into branchlets, with sharp spines, oblate base, total length of about 10cm or longer, and base diameter of 0.8 ~1.2cm.. The surface is purple-brown or reddish-brown. Light weight, hard texture, yellow-white cut wood, loose pulp, brown, odorless and light taste.
