In the main world, zombies are spawned in groups of 4 at brightness levels less than or equal to 7. Zombies have a 5% chance each of spawning as a Zombie Villager or a Small Zombie. Small zombies have a 5% chance to spawn as chicken knights. This is also valid for swipe egg generation.
Small zombies have a 5% chance of spawning, and they differ from zombies in the following ways:
They do not burn during the day.
They do not grow unless healed.
When a small zombie is wearing armor, the armor shrinks to fit the size of the small zombie.
If a baby zombie is wearing a creature head, pumpkin lamp or pumpkin, they float over the baby zombie's head, which is an exploit.
They can climb ladders.
Unlike adult zombies, small zombies still react to attacks when they attack other creatures.
Prior to 1.7, small zombies did not drop any experience orbs or items.
They are faster than normal zombies.

Small zombie villagers spawn when a normal zombie kills a small villager. They have the same chance of being infected as regular zombie villagers. Chicken Jockey is the name given to the rare combo of a Small Zombie or Small Zombie Piggot riding a chicken.
Each Little Zombie or Little Zombie Pigman has a 5% chance of spawning as a chicken rider (including Little Zombie Villagers). Any chicken in a 10 x 6 x 10 box-shaped area centered on the Little Zombie spawn location has an additional 5% chance of spawning as a chicken rider added to it.
In a chicken-less environment, this grants small zombies a 0.25% chance to form chicken knights; if chickens are introduced to the area, the formation chance increases to 0.4875%.
Chicken Riders may spawn equipped with items. The Little Zombie Pigman Knight will always be armed with a Golden Sword. Enraging a Lesser Zombie Pigman Chicken Knight will counterattack as if it were a Zombie Pigman.
