The lighthouse jellyfish is a very unique jellyfish, able to return to its younger, healthier state when stressed or harmed, meaning it is biologically immortal. This means that, theoretically, the lighthouse jellyfish could survive forever, with no definite lifespan limit, if environmental conditions permit. Theoretically, the lighthouse jellyfish can revert back to its hydrozoan-type state after sexual maturity and can repeat this process indefinitely, possessing the ability to rejuvenate and live for an arguably unlimited amount of time. Reproduction is asexual, and when in the hydra form, it can differentiate and develop into hundreds of individuals with the help of cell division, all of which have the same arrangement of genetic material, and can be said to be copies of themselves. This process is also theoretically unlimited, and it can be said that the lifespan of the lighthouse jellyfish is also unlimited.
