When it comes to food, our country’s cuisine is not inferior to any other country. Some time ago, there was a variety show about a well-known Korean foodie host who came to China to taste Chinese food. In order to have a more down-to-earth understanding, he usually chose roadside snacks or night markets, but in this way he was defeated by the power of Chinese food.
Although his performance in the show is a bit exaggerated, if you read the following talk about food in the eyes of Koreans, you will know why he behaves this way.
The first one, Korean barbecue, which is popular all over the country
After hearing this name, do you feel that the taste is okay and not any worse than our Chinese food? If you simply think so, you are wrong. When Korean barbecue entered the Chinese market, some adjustments were made to the taste and seasoning. The Korean barbecue we eat in China is basically the meat slices marinated by the restaurant chef himself and then made using the Korean barbecue method.
The real Korean barbecue seasonings are marinated with Korean unique hot sauce, honey, pepper, etc. Flavor-enhancing side dishes generally include spicy cabbage, sesame sauce, minced garlic, etc. And Korean barbecue is usually served with lettuce or perilla leaves, which is very different from domestic ones. I really can’t figure out whether the meat marinated in honey and pepper is sweet or salty.
The second one is spicy cabbage that we often complain about.
Spicy cabbage is very frequently eaten in Korean food. Koreans seem to have a special liking for this kind of kimchi. This kind of dish is called kimchi in a more Western way, and pickled cabbage in a more down-to-earth way. Although there are many kinds of Korean kimchi, they pale in comparison to our Chinese pickles.
The third type is Korean cold noodles
Korean food itself pursues health, and generally does not use too much oil or seasonings to cook noodles. Therefore, the taste of Korean cold noodles is relatively unique, usually a combination of three flavors: sour, sweet, and spicy. Although the presentation of Korean cold noodles is beautiful, the taste is still very different from our Chongqing noodles.
The fourth type is Bibimbap
Bibimbap is considered a famous Korean food. Bibimbap is usually made with rice placed underneath. A layer of grilled vegetables and meat makes bibimbap somewhat tempting, but some bibimbap is still inseparable from being mixed with spicy sauce. The bibimbap we eat in China usually has no sauce added to it. I don’t know why, but Korea’s more famous dishes seem to like to use chili sauce to add color and flavor. As soon as the hot sauce is added, the whole meal suddenly loses its uniqueness.
The fifth type is fried rice cake
Every dish in Korea seems to have a spicy and sour taste, and fried rice cake is no exception. Authentic Korean Tteokbokki is still indispensable without Korean hot sauce. In my opinion, without Korean hot sauce, they might lose half of their dishes. Tteokbokki is the most acceptable Korean dish to us, and barbecue is not as popular as it. But this kind of snack feels fresh even if you eat it once in a while. If the frequency of Korean people eating fried rice cakes is followed, I believe that not many people in the country can stick to it.
The above-mentioned 5 kinds of delicacies are quite representative of Korea, but they are still inferior to the dishes in our country that are full of color, flavor and taste. It is no wonder that many netizens have seen the dishes that Koreans eat. Afterwards I found their confidence a bit funny. Even Japan next door is advising them to wake up from their own "delicious food".
