Hakka: Shao Peng (as far as we know, the name of Fujian and western Guangdong)
Similar in shape to a round-tailed betta. The ventral fin has 1 root segmented fin, especially the male fin, and the caudal fin is forked. Most of them live in shallow water areas such as mountain ponds, rice fields and springs, and eat invertebrates. During the breeding period, males spit foam as nests and gather their eggs in the nest. Males have the habit of protecting nests. The individual is small, because of its bright body color, and the male fish is a good cow, which is a famous ornamental fish.
Distributed in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River and southern provinces.
