How to make dried flowers
Dried flowers are the general name of flowers, leaves and fruits after drying. It not only has the charm of truth, goodness and beauty endowed by nature to flowers; It also has the characteristics of long-lasting artificial flowers, which are natural and simple and lovely. The methods of drying flowers mainly include natural drying, normal temperature pressing, sand (boron sand) drying, desiccant embedding, glycerol drying, microwave drying and so on. There are two ways to make dried flowers at home because of the limitation of equipment and other conditions.

(1) Natural drying method: put the flower materials in cool, dark, dry, clean and airy conditions, and let them dry naturally. It is suitable for grass flowers with more cellulose and used in making three-dimensional dried flowers.

Flowers can be collected after dew dries in the morning. After harvesting, the stems are cut into the required length, and a small number of leaves, redundant side branches and damaged parts are removed. The flowers are tied into appropriate bouquets with thin rope, so that the flowers are hung down on the iron wire. As the flowers dry, the original tied bouquets are easy to loosen, so it is necessary to pay attention to tying them tightly at any time. After the flowers are completely dried, they are sprayed with anti-transpiration agent and put into a big box for later use. For some flowers whose petals are thin and tender, hanging upside down and easy to roll over and deform, the flat-support drying method can be adopted, that is, the lower end of the flower branch is vertically passed through the mesh from top to bottom, so that the flowers are supported upright and stretched flat on the mesh, so that they can be naturally dried.

(2) Normal temperature pressing method: This method is a commonly used method for making flat dried flowers. It is simple and easy, and does not need special equipment. Just put the flower branches into absorbent paper, press heavy objects (such as stones and bricks) on it, and place them in the air circulation to make them dry naturally. Specimen clips can be used instead of heavy objects in mass production of dried flowers. When using this method, it should be noted that the absorbent paper should be replaced in time within1~ 3 days after pressing.

This method can also be combined with heating and rapid drying, that is, on the second day after the flowers are pressed, or when they are dried, the absorbent paper with flowers is lightly branded several times with an electric ironing head, and then pressed as usual until it is completely dried. This not only has a fast drying speed, but also plays a role in killing insects and sterilizing, which is beneficial to the preservation of dried flowers. However, it should be noted that some flowers, such as orchids, will fade when exposed to high temperature, so this kind of flowers should not be heated.
