Biological characteristics of (1)
Several buds at the top of the growth branch of Carya cathayensis germinated new buds, and most of the buds at the lower part were hidden buds and did not germinate. Young trees have many branches at the top, which are easy to rotate and have obvious layering.
The top of strong branches of Carya cathayensis is easy to form fruiting mother branches. Results Male inflorescences were easy to occur in smaller buds below the terminal buds of mother branches.
The female inflorescence is attached to the top of the fruiting mother branch of the current year, which is produced by the mixed buds at the top of the fruiting mother branch. After fruiting, the axillary buds at the top of the second year will bear fruit, and usually the branches will sprout and grow in the second year.
The latent buds of Carya cathayensis are long-lived, numerous and easy to germinate, which is beneficial to the regeneration of branches.
(2) Trimming features
Because the top of Carya cathayensis is active, its lower buds are not easy to germinate, and the top advantage is strong, so trunk pruning should be adopted.
Young trees are mainly lightly sheared, with only sparse branches, long backbone branches are short sheared, and the rest branches are slowly released. Several main branches can be placed on one floor. In the fruiting period, the crown of the tree is enlarged, and the main branches are increased. It is advisable to remove the main branches with improper positions in stages and batches, select the branches with proper direction and dense density as the main branches, and select multiple side branches at the same time to increase the fruiting area. The mixed buds of Carya cathayensis are usually planted at the top of branches, so it is not advisable to cut them short to keep the fruit. Sparse useless branches to facilitate ventilation and light transmission of crown branches. When the crown reaches more than 5 meters, you can be happy.
