The distribution of vegetation is very much related to soil and water, and different regions have different distribution patterns of vegetation. Take this post refers to the white thatch root, this plant, it is commonly known as: thatch.

In some areas, its hilltop or roadside, rarely see the growth of thatch, there are not many. In some areas where I have stayed, thatched grass is all over the mountains, and, few locals know that its roots, there are Y value. They all dig up the thatch root and dry it as firewood.

Things are rare, in those regions, this plant is too common, people do not take it seriously.

And this thatch, there are two kinds of thatch, with the local people's slang to call words, one is called: winter thatch, the two sides of its leaves are sharp like a knife, if you touch a person's finger, you can directly scrape through the skin and bleed. The leaves of the winter grass, even in the winter when the grass is dying, part of its leaves, but also green. Winter fescue is the grass for yellow cattle.

And another thatch, the local people called: "yellow sand thatch". Yellow sand thatch in the fall and winter, its leaves basically become yellow, the shape of the dry. The wind blows, yellow sand thatched dry leaves, swaying in the wind.

Far away, the hill, the slope, a large swath of yellow sand thatched, like a beige swath of sand. It is estimated that the name of yellow sand thatch comes from this.

And yellow sand thatched roots, but in the land, coiled branches stretched out. Digging up the soil, digging out the yellow sand thatched root, the yellow sand thatched rhizome wrapped in the layer of thin coat removed, revealing the snow-white thatched root, can be eaten raw, very sweet. This yellow sand thatched root, is the white thatched root referred to in this post. In the local dialect, the white thatched root is called: "thatched stem".

I was every winter, see my grandfather, always have to dig so many times yellow sand thatched root back, cleaned and other herbs with decoction water to drink, only to understand that it is the root of the white thatched root, is the Chinese Y material. Its specific function, but also today check the reference books, only completely understand.

I'm sharing this as a popularization exercise.
