The former sordidness is not enough to boast of, but the present debauchery is endless.
The spring breeze is so smooth that I can see all the flowers of Chang'an in one day.
About the author:
Meng Jiao (751-814) was a poet of the Tang Dynasty. His name was Dongye. He was a native of Wukang, Huzhou (now Deqing, Zhejiang), and his ancestral home was Pingchang (now northeast of Linyi, Shandong), so his friends sometimes called him "Pingchang Meng Dongye". He was a loner and a scribbler all his life, and his friends gave him a posthumous title of Mr. Zhen Yao. Meng Dongye was known for his poems, especially the Five Ancient Poems, and his cynicism, but his mood was low and his words were bitter, and Su Shi referred to him and Jia Dao as the "Thin and Cold Island". He is also known as "Meng Dongye Poetry Collection".
Appreciation:
After Enrollment is a poem written by Meng Jiao in the 12th year of the reign of Zhenyuan. Meng Jiao in the 12th year of Zhenyuan (796) ? After the Scholarship" is a poem written by the Tang Dynasty poet ? seven stanzas. The first two lines of the poem compare the author's past situation of disappointment and despondency with the present situation of success, highlighting the boiling thoughts of the present day when he jumped into a new world; the last two lines say that he galloped across the horse in the spring breeze, and finished the beautiful flowers of Chang'an in one day, which shows his extremely happy mood. The whole poem is fast-paced, one-two punch, unique in the Meng poetry of "thinking bitterly and strangely".
