"Red Sorghum" is adapted from "Red Sorghum Family" by Mo Yan, China's first Nobel Prize winner for literature, and is directed by Zheng Xiaolong. The play stars Zhou Xun, Zhu Yawen, Huang Xuan, Song Jialun, Qin Hailu, Yu Rongguang, Xu Guangyu, Xie Huiqing and Cao Zheng. The play tells the story of Jiu'er and Yu Zhan'ao, who used their lives to compose a vital modern legendary epic about love and hate, conquest and being conquered in the vital land of Gaomi, Shandong in the early 1930s. "Red Sorghum" was broadcast on prime time on October 27, 2014 on four major TV stations in Beijing, Shandong, Shanghai Oriental and Zhejiang.
