Steaming method of hairy crabs
When cooking steamed crabs and other dishes, the whole live crab is usually steamed in a pot. After the steamer is boiled, put the crab in, steam it on high fire for about 5 minutes, and then continue steaming on low fire for a period of time. The specific steaming time depends on the size of the crab:

3 crabs with less than two sizes should be steamed for about 10 minute, crabs with three to four sizes should be steamed for about 12 minute, and crabs with more than four sizes should be steamed for about 15 minute. Usually, for every weight gain of 1 2, the steaming time increases by about 2 minutes.

How long does the diced crab steam?

When cooking dishes such as scallion crab, you need to cut the crab into small pieces first, and then steam it in the pot. Diced crabs also need boiling water to be put into the pot, and it is also necessary to steam them on high fire for 5 minutes, and then steam them on low fire 10 minutes or so.

In short, the total steaming time of whole crabs or diced crabs should not be less than 15 minutes from the time when boiling water is put into the pot, because parasites or pathogenic microorganisms can be completely killed in about 15 minutes, and this time will not lead to the aging of crab meat.

Supplementary note: when steaming crabs or fish, you should wait until the steamer is boiled before adding crabs or fish, so as to reduce the heating time of the ingredients, keep the meat fresh and tender and reduce the nutritional loss.
