The earliest cold drinks made of ice originated in China. According to Zhou Li, during the Zhou Dynasty, people stored ice in winter and took it out in summer. The Tang Dynasty document Youyang Zayu recorded the practice of "ice cream" (milk and goat milk with juice and ice), which is very similar to modern ice cream.
Ice cream was first invented by China people. At that time, in order to cool off the heat, winter ice was stored in the cellar. At the end of the Tang Dynasty, people found that saltpeter melt water could absorb heat and cool down, so people added ice particles to the soup.
Ice drinking history
It is said that in the Tang Dynasty, not only cold drinks were made by ice, but also the practice of ice milk appeared. According to the document Youyang Miscellaneous, in the Tang Dynasty, "ice cheese, crisp mountain and cheese drink" appeared. Ice cheese is actually milk, goat milk with juice and ice; Crispy mountain is to freeze cream into hills, and buttermilk drink is actually to freeze milk and goat milk. And these ice cream, crisp mountain and cheese drinks are not the ice cream now.
It is worth mentioning that this ancient ice storage was a technical activity, so it was only for princes and nobles to enjoy it. It was not until the industrial refrigeration technology was developed in the 20th century that ice-cream and other ice-making things entered people's homes.
