Jinnan gongs and drums are a local traditional percussion instrument played with four instruments in Linfen. The majestic gongs and drums are mainly distributed in the south of Shanxi, especially in Fenxi County, Hongtong County, huozhou city and other places in Linfen. Because drums are thunderous, cymbals are crisp and gongs are dull and majestic, it is called majestic gongs and drums. Among them, Xiatuanbai Village in Fenxi County is a magnificent village with gongs and drums, and Xiatuanbai Village has the reputation of "the first drum in China"
2. Jinnan Flower Drum:
Jinnan Flower Fair originated in Wanrong County, and later became popular in the whole Jinnan area. It is said that Jinnan Flower Drum was brought to Wanrong County by people who fled from Fengyang, Anhui Province in the Ming Dynasty. Wanrong Flower Drum Performance has three forms: high drum (chest drum), low drum (waist drum) and multi-drum (body drum). Performers beat and dance, usually accompanied by gongs and cymbals. Like a puppet show, shadow play often performs a folk story. The characters and props in the play are all made of leather, and their outlines are projected on the screen. Performers voice and sing the characters in the play behind the scenes.
3. Kang painting
Shanxi has the custom of painting on the wall around the kang. These paintings are used to decorate rooms and protect painted walls. Kang's paintings are rich in content, from scenery, flowers and birds, wild animals to history and legends. Murals similar to modern Kang paintings were found in the ancient tombs of the Song Dynasty excavated in Yuanping, which proved that Kang paintings have a history of at least 800 years.
Step 4 Embroidery
This kind of handcraft is very popular in rural Shanxi. Embroidery everywhere has its own unique forms: some are gorgeous and exquisite, some are solemn and clear, and some are simple and refined. There are three kinds of embroidery works, clothes, daily necessities and ceremonial decorations. In traditional clothing, embroidery is usually used to decorate collars, sleeves, children's shoes, bibs and children's hats. In daily necessities, typical embroidery works are pillows, some of which are designed as two tiger heads, a face tiger head, a fishtail tiger head or a frog. Nowadays, embroidery is more widely used in cushions, insoles, wallets and tourist souvenirs. The embroidery works used in the ceremony mainly include hanging curtains and mourning clothes hanging on the temples.
5. Pingyang Woodblock New Year Pictures
Woodblock New Year pictures originated in Pingyang (ancient Linfen) in Song Dynasty were widely developed in Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties. After the demise of the Song Dynasty, the rulers of the Yuan Dynasty forced many printers to move to Pingyang from the south, making it the center of the printing industry, thus producing Pingyang woodblock New Year pictures. Most of Pingyang woodcuts are carved and printed by farmers with this hobby in their spare time. Woodcarving is based on local customs and legends, with flowers, birds, fish, insects and historical figures as the main contents.
The picture is exaggerated and vivid, colorful and full of local flavor, reflecting the healthy, brave and romantic character of the local people. Pingyang New Year pictures have different types according to different uses. Some are hung in the bedroom, some are pasted on the doors and windows, and some are used to decorate the kitchen or dining table.
6. Huozhou dough sculpture
The local people call it mutton steamed stuffed bun, and the ancient word "sheep" is homophonic with "auspicious", which means good luck. Before the Spring Festival, peasant women will knead dough-plastic products with patterns such as kitten, puppy, tiger, jade rabbit, chicken, duck, fish, frog, grape, pomegranate, eggplant and bergamot. It symbolizes good luck and prosperity. During the Cold Food Festival, the dough sculpture used to sweep graves and worship ancestors is a "snake plate". It is said that eating "snake head" can "reduce the poison head and avoid disaster"
