Wahoo and mackerel are not the same kind of fish.

1, Spanish mackerel:

Scientific name of Spanish mackerel is "blue-spot mackerel", our country's Bohai Sea, Yellow Sea, the East China Sea, and North Korea's coastal waters are its main distribution. Its body is smooth and delicate, fusiform, generally body length of 0.3 to 0.5 meters, the longest up to 1 meter, the back of the blue-black, covered with blue spots, the abdomen is silver-gray, accustomed to close to the surface of the water to float, the tail fins and dorsal fins are usually exposed.

2, horse mackerel:

Mackerel has a long, narrow body, blue-black head and back. General body length of 25 to 50 centimeters, weight 300 to 1000 grams. Distributed in the western North Pacific, China in the East China Sea, Yellow Sea and Bohai Sea. There are several rows of blue-black round spots on the upper flanks, the abdomen is white, and there are angular spines after the dorsal and anal fins.

Life habits of horse mackerel:

Mackerel that live in the middle and upper layers of the ocean, they have a dark dorsal body color, mostly blue-black, dark blue, or dark cyan, and a pale abdominal color, silvery-white, white, or pale yellowish-white, which is known as the elimination color.

If you look at the fish from above, it is not easy to identify them even though they are very close to the fish because the back of the fish matches the color of the sea water in natural light. When viewed from underneath and upwards, the belly of the fish is similar to the color of the water and the sky, making it difficult to distinguish.
