Physical examination reveals that the patient has thyroid enlargement (mild to severe enlargement). In elderly patients, thyroid enlargement is often not obvious and the texture of the thyroid gland is soft or medium. In severe cases, all blood vessels can be heard with a stethoscope. Murmur, severe hyperthyroidism, and even tremor when touched with hands. Most patients with hyperthyroidism have an increased heart rate, often exceeding 90 beats/min at rest, and elderly patients may exhibit rapid atrial fibrillation. Patients with hyperthyroidism have hot flashes of skin and trembling hands. Many patients also show eyelid edema, widening of the palpebral fissures, less blinking in both eyes, and congestion and edema of the bulbar conjunctiva. Severe cases may exhibit exophthalmos, limited eye movement, or even incomplete eyelid closure.
Some patients with more severe hyperthyroidism show myxedema in the front of the tibia (tibia) of the lower limbs. The skin in front of the tibia is enlarged, thickened, rough, orange peel-shaped, and the hairs are thickened, similar to elephant skin legs. Treatment Quite difficult.
