Morphological characteristics of Dongkui Myrica rubra
The fruit began to ripen in early July. It was introduced to Xiajiang County, Jiangxi Province in 1990s. At present, the mature period of Xiajiang Myrica rubra Dongkui Myrica rubra in Xiajiang County is from late June to early July. Its fruit shape is as big as table tennis, with an average vertical and horizontal diameter (diameter) of 3.66cm-3.73cm, a single fruit weight of 22-25g, the maximum fruit weight of 50g, and there are only 20 Myrica rubra Dongkui per 500g, at least 12. It is not easy to drop fruit at maturity, and the harvesting time is as long as 10- 15 days, so it is resistant to storage and transportation, and the fruit is excellent in fresh eating and canning. The age of its 16 grafted progeny has also passed 100 years. 1979 Zhejiang Agricultural University named it "Dongkui" when compiling Introduction to Fruit Cultivation, and listed it as a separate variety.

This variety has a strong tree potential, a tall crown, a round head shape, lush foliage, dark green leaves, obvious veins on the back of the leaves, strong fertility, generally starting to bear fruit in 5-6 years, and entering the full fruit period in 10, with a plant yield of 50- 100kg and a high yield of more than 200kg. It has wide adaptability and strong resistance. There is little investment (only 200 yuan per mu of mountain area) and no risk. In addition, the market demand of Dongkui Myrica rubra is large (it can also be exported to Southeast Asia) and the price is high (the local price is about 25 yuan /kg per year, which is five times more expensive than that of ordinary Myrica rubra). Therefore, cultivating Dongkui Myrica rubra is of positive significance for developing mountain resources, greening barren hills, maintaining soil and water, and increasing economic income in mountainous areas.
