Qingdao Vocational The Technical College is a full-time general university managed by provincial and municipal governments and mainly by municipal governments. The college was established in October 2000 on the basis of the former Qingdao Workers' University. In April 2002, it merged with the original Qingdao Education College to form the new Qingdao Vocational and Technical College. The original Qingdao Workers' University was founded in 1977; the original Qingdao Education College was founded in 1951. The famous biologist and educator Tong Dizhou and the Chinese classics master Lu Kanru served as early leaders of the college.
