They are nocturnal fish and can be mixed with healthy species of fish. It does not eat fish feed, but swims around the bottom and sides of the tank. It often adsorbs on aquarium walls or water plants, licking moss, and is the best cleaner in the aquarium. Scavenger takes fish feces, seaweed, bacteria, and feed scraps as its main food, which also becomes the origin of its name. The scavenger's mouth is like a vacuum cleaner, sucking fish feces and green plants into its stomach. It also holds a bubble of oxygen in its mouth, which keeps it in the water for a longer period of time, allowing it to eat more "food". Because it is an exotic species, there is no natural enemy in China, and it is easy to reproduce in large numbers in the rivers, which will threaten the survival of local fish and destroy the ecological chain. This species is easy to keep, almost as long as the water can feed them. But to keep them well, it is best to give them weakly acidic soft water or neutral water is best. The appropriate water temperature is 20℃ or more.
