Shou County, affiliated to Huainan City, Anhui Province, is located in the central part of Anhui Province, on the south bank of the middle reaches of the Huaihe River. It borders Changfeng County to the east, Huainan City and Fengtai County to the north, Huoqiu County to the west, and Huoqiu County to the south. Lu'an City and Feixi County are connected. It is between 116°27′-117°04′ east longitude and 31°54′-32°40′ north latitude, with a total area of ??2986 square kilometers.
In January 1949, Shouxian County was peacefully liberated. During the military control period, it was under the leadership of the Second Prefecture Committee of the Jianghuai District Party Committee of the Communist Party of China; at the same time, the area east of Wabu Lake in Yishou County was adjacent to Hefei and Dingyuan County Shouhe County was established. In February, the Military Control Commission was abolished, a democratic government was established, and Shou County was placed under the Wanxi Administrative Office; at the same time, the mountain villages in the north of Fengtai County were placed under Shou County, and the two townships of Bagong and Beiwai were placed.
In June, the organizational structure of Shouhe County was withdrawn, and the originally designated Wadong area still belonged to Shouxian County; Shouxian County was under the Lu'an District of the Northern Anhui People's Administrative Office. In August 1952, it was affiliated to Lu'an District of Anhui Province. In February 1954, some administrative villages of Erodian Township and Kidian and Beiwai Township in the northeast of the county were transferred to Huainan City; in October, three natural villages in Douzhen Township, Tushan District, Feixi County, near Wushan Temple, were transferred to Shouxian County. In December 1958, Anfeng County was established in the area south of the line from Zhenwu Temple to Zhengyangguan in Xishou County and west of the south of Wabu Lake. The county was governed by Shijiaji, which was under the Lu'an Prefecture; the remaining areas It was still Shouxian County and was changed to Huainan City. In April of the following year, Anfeng County was withdrawn and the area was restored to Shouxian County, which was then placed under the Lu'an Prefecture.
In July 1965, the four districts of Xiatang, Yangmiao, Shuihu and Yanggong in the eastern part of Shouxian County were transferred to Changfeng County in Hefei. On December 3, 2015, the State Council (Guohan No. 206) approved the transfer of Shouxian County from Lu'an City to the jurisdiction of Huainan City.
