The process of soybean seed germination
Observations
Date and circumstances
Sowing date: February 12
Skin split
On February 15, while pouring water, I saw the skin of the seed split open and saw a white bean.
Growing radicle
On Feb. 18, I saw the radicle growing as I started pouring water, and the radicle was growing downward as if it was absorbing water.
Growing Germs
On February 19, I saw the germs growing while I was observing. The pointed white germ was growing upward, absorbing water and carbon dioxide from the air, just like a person absorbs oxygen.
Growth of the radicle
On February 21, I was observing and saw that the radicle was beginning to elongate. The embryonic root elongated one or two centimeters and grew into the root of a bean sprout.
Embryonic growth
On Feb. 22, while pouring water, I inadvertently noticed that the embryonic root was beginning to elongate, burrowing out of the soil and resembling a comma on top of it.
Cotyledons coming out of the soil
The cotyledons are a little white and a little yellow, and they look great.
Growing real leaves
On February 26, I went back and saw that the comma shape of the germ was gone, growing into leaves and stems, the leaves were green and tender and beautiful, and underneath the leaves were two cotyledons a little yellow.
Shriveled cotyledons
On Feb. 29, I went to pour water again and saw two cotyledons deflated, very yellow and shriveled.
Otherwise
March 2, soybean sprouts are now growing into a seedling, with four leaves, a stem that is about 5 centimeters, and a very long seedling root that is three or four centimeters long. The seedlings are green and thick.
