Many people are wondering what the real "new shrimp with a knife" is, and at the same time, they are still wondering whether the "new shrimp with a knife" is a sea shrimp or a river shrimp! In fact, more than a decade ago, most of the new prawns were wild prawns, and now the new prawns on the table have become artificially cultured varieties. After all, the output of wild shrimp can't meet the demand of our shrimp. Most of the new prawns are cultured in fresh water and seawater. It happens that both Penaeus monodon and Penaeus japonicus can be cultured in this way, and these prawns have the habit of lurking in the sand.
Penaeus monodon is a promising seawater desalination breed, which can be cultured twice a year in southern China. At present, the yield per mu of freshwater aquaculture can reach 75 ~ 100 kg. Shrimp shell is thin and fat, and the meat is tender and delicious, which is superior to China shrimp and has strong adaptability. It can often be listed as live shrimp and is well received by domestic and foreign markets. This kind of shrimp has strong vitality and a wide range of salinity. It can grow in 3% seawater or even fresh water. The suitable water temperature range is 17 ~ 32℃, and it can survive when the water temperature drops to 5 ~ 6℃ in winter. This kind of shrimp is omnivorous, and its feeding habits are similar to those of ordinary prawns during exercise. Adult shrimp mainly prey on benthic ostracods, copepods and polychaetes, and organic debris and benthic diatoms are also found. Because of its habit of diving to the bottom of the water, it is better to use sand, mud or sediment as habitat substrate.
First, the choice of new prawn farms
It is required to build a pool with sufficient water, good water quality, solid soil and convenient access to water. The specific requirements are as follows:
1. Site selection. Basically, it is required to be the same as a fish pond or to use the original freshwater fish pond for breeding.
2. Shrimp pond area. 2 ~ 10 mu, water depth 1.2 ~ 1.5 m, rectangular shape, bank slope 1: 2 ~ 1: 2.5, and slightly inclined bottom for drainage.
3. Drainage system. The shrimp pond should have independent water inlet and drainage channels to feed shrimp rafts for irrigation.
