Chub, also known as white chub, water chub, jumping chub, chub, belongs to the order Carpiformes, family Carpidae, and is one of the famous four major fish.
The chub, as a typical plankton-feeding fish, is mainly found in the upper layer of rivers, lakes and other water bodies. And this fish is also very lively, very good at jumping, so in folklore also gave it a nickname "impatient chub".
The chub mainly feeds on zooplankton in its juvenile stage and feeds on phytoplankton (algae) when it grows up. It is also because of this habit that it has been introduced to be cultured in several countries just to use it to purify the water and eat some of the excess phytoplankton in the water.
