Fishweed prefers moist soil, afraid of drought, cuttings should be supplemented with water 3 to 4 days after a watering, in order to promote the germination of the seed stem.
Cultivation of seed stems
Fishweed is a perennial rooted plant, although there are seeds available for reproduction, but most of the artificial cultivation of the use of old mature underground rhizomes for propagation materials.
The first year of cultivation can be directly from the wild fritillary on the seed stem, the following year can be taken from the productive field.
The seed stems should be selected from old stems that are stout and fat, with long internodes, and free of pests and diseases.
Digging and selecting in the winter when the stems and leaves are withered and yellowed, burying the selected seed stems in the ground for a natural winter, and cutting the seed stems into small segments 4 to 6 centimeters long before germination in the following spring, each segment needs to have 2 to 3 nodes, which must have 3 nodes in the high temperature and drought in the summer, to ensure germination.
Root well.
If the number of seed stems is abundant, the seed stem segments can be slightly longer, 15 to 20 centimeters.
Cuttings
First, the soil should be plowed y to a depth of about 26 centimeters before sowing.
After deep plowing, rake the soil to level the top and remove grass roots.
According to the 170 to 200 cm wide bed, easy to waterlogged plots or rainy season, should be made of deep ditch raised beds; well-drained plots without waterlogging, can be made of flat beds, in order to keep the soil moist.
Then, in the finishing of the bed horizontal sowing ditch, to the ditch depth of 8 ~ 10 cm, 13 ~ 15 cm wide is appropriate, row spacing 25 ~ 30 cm.
After opening the furrow into the bottom fertilizer, every 667 square meters of fully rotted stable fertilizer 3000 to 5000 kg, 50 kg of calcium superphosphate and potassium sulfate 15 to 20 kg (or 100 kg of grass ash), stable fertilizer must be fully rotted, otherwise the stable fertilizer fermentation will be burned to death of the seed stem.
Place the seed stems along the sides of the ditch, one every 7 to 10 centimeters, cover the soil and water after sowing. If the plot has low water content, or the climate is dry at the time of sowing, you should pour enough bottom water before sowing.
Because the fritillary cultivation site is moist and nutrient-rich, weeds are easy to grow, it is advisable to spray chemical herbicides after inserting seedlings.
