Monodonta labio's living habits
Temperate-subtropical life is relatively narrow in coastal areas of China. At present, it is only found in the coastal areas of Zhejiang and Fujian, and the main living area is in the coastal areas of Zhejiang. There are many intertidal areas in Zhoushan intertidal zone in northern Zhejiang, but they are low in abundance. Compared with the high-abundance snails and monodonta labio living in the same region, the relative number is much less. Wang Yinong et al. (1997) studied the experimental ecology of monodonta labio in Zhoushan, Zhejiang Province, and determined that their temperature tolerance range was 0-25℃ and their salt tolerance range was 12.23‰-49.00‰. At the same time, they also determined that their optimal survival temperature was 20℃ and their optimal survival salinity was 22./kloc-0. However, in addition to the Zhejiang specimen, only the No.1 Fujian specimen was collected in our institute over the years. In the survey of molluscs in Daya Bay, Guangdong Province (Li Rongguan et al., 1990), the survey of marine life and fishery resources on islands in Guangdong Province (Guo Jinfu et al., 1994) and the survey of shellfish in intertidal zone of Dapeng 'ao, Guangdong Province (Yuan Xiuzhen, 1997), monodonta labio was not listed. Although due to the limitation of time and space and collection methods, we can't determine the southern limit of this species, but the detailed long-term investigation shows that the number of this species in the South China Sea is very small. This species has a wide living area along the coast of Japanese archipelago, which is the same as monodonta labio, but there is no report about its quantity. Other information about the biology of this species is also lacking. According to its geographical distribution, quantity and optimum survival temperature, the author thinks that it is more appropriate to classify monodonta labio as a warm-temperate species.
