Red Mary

The red arrowfish

is an oviparous fish. Strong fertility, early sexual maturity, juvenile fish in 3-4 months when sexually mature, 6-7 months of maturity into maturity can be reproduced offspring, sexual maturity is closely related to the water temperature, feeding conditions.

The female red swordfish produces once in 4-6 weeks, which is affected by the age of the female and the ratio of males to females. She can produce 30-300 young each time. When breeding, attention should be paid to the fact that the same brood should not retain more than two generations of breeder fish, so as to avoid continuous inbreeding leading to species degradation, so that the progeny fish are getting smaller and smaller, and their dorsal fins are getting shorter and narrower. It is better to introduce the same species of fish for purposeful distant crossbreeding to prevent the degeneration of the sub-species and to achieve the purpose of improving the species. However, the life span of the red arrowfish is very short, usually only 2-3 years.
