Diagnostic criteria for diabetes

Normal blood sugar

Normal blood sugar, fasting blood sugar, 3.9~6.1 mmol per liter, two-hour postprandial blood sugar , not exceeding 7.8 mmol per liter.

Prediabetes

Fasting blood sugar exceeds 6.1 mmol per liter, and blood sugar two hours after a meal exceeds 7.8 mmol per liter, but has not yet reached the standard of diabetes is called prediabetes symptoms.

Diabetes examination

1. Fasting blood glucose

Suitable for ordinary routine screening to detect diabetes. Fasting blood glucose refers to after 9:00 pm. Stop eating.

2. Glycated hemoglobin

It can be used in conjunction with fasting blood sugar to detect diabetes more sensitively. And it can monitor the average level of blood sugar control in the past three months.

3. Glucose tolerance test

For those whose initial test results show abnormal blood sugar, but it is still unclear whether they have diabetes, a glucose tolerance test is required.

The glucose tolerance test requires drinking 75 grams of sugar powder specially prepared by the hospital on an empty stomach, and then monitoring the blood sugar level for one and two hours. If the blood sugar is greater than 11.1mmol/l, diabetes can be diagnosed.

People at high risk of developing diabetes
