Corn should be cooked for 15 to 25 minutes.
Generally, if you cook corn at home, it can be cooked in about 15 minutes, but there are cases where it takes a little longer, but not more than 25 minutes, and it is usually cooked until the corn changes color. However, it should be noted that the type of corn to cook corn is different will also affect the cooking time.
For example, to cook fresh corn, cold water in the pot to cook 20 minutes that is cooked, because the fresh corn itself more water. Fruit corn, on the other hand, should be cooked in cold water for 15 minutes. Because fruit corn is usually smaller, higher sugar so easier to cook, generally cold water in the pot to cook 15 minutes is enough. For white glutinous corn, cook in cold water for 25 minutes. Because of the high starch content of white glutinous corn itself, so it is more difficult to cook, at least 25 minutes to eat.
Methods for determining when corn is cooked:
1, look at the color of the corn. Corn cooked color is going to change, usually raw corn will appear white, and cooked corn color will deepen, fading the original white, so you can watch the corn color changes to determine whether the corn is cooked.
2, pinch corn. Raw tender corn contains more water, gently pinch will have juice, while the cooked corn will become more solid, will not appear out of the water. So you can tell if the corn is cooked by pinching it.
3, taste the corn. Because corn is rich in starch, if the raw corn will taste with obvious starch flavor or raw flavor; and cooked corn will taste sweet and soft flavor.
