Generally speaking, it is difficult for rabbits under two months to tell the male from the female, because the testicles of male rabbits are hidden in their stomachs when they are young, and generally they will slowly descend into the scrotum after three months. So at this time, if you want to distinguish the male and female rabbits, you can do it as follows.
1, first grasp the skin of the rabbit's back neck with one hand, and be careful not to use too much force when grasping;
2. Then pull up the rabbit's small tail with the other hand and press down the genitals slightly;
3. If it is a young rabbit and a newborn rabbit, you need to separate the hair on the rabbit's ass with your fingers;
4. At this time, you can see the rabbit's urine outlet, and then you can observe the hole in the rabbit's vulva and the distance between the hole and the anus;
5. Generally, rabbits with flat holes and close distance from anus are female rabbits; The rabbit with round holes and a long distance from the anus is the male rabbit;
6. If it is a baby rabbit with eyes open, you can directly hold the tail of the rabbit with your index finger and middle finger, and then gently push the genitals upward with your thumb. If the opening is "O"-shaped, it is a male rabbit, and if the opening is "Y"-shaped, it is a female rabbit.
7. If it is a rabbit after 3 months, you can directly distinguish the male and female of the rabbit by looking at the scrotum.
There are several ways to distinguish male and female rabbits.
1, identification method of open-eyed rabbits
There will be two holes on the rabbit's ass, one near the tail is used for defecation, and the other is the rabbit's reproductive organ. Simply speaking, the female rabbit's reproductive organs are V-shaped, while the male rabbit's reproductive organs are tubular (O-shaped).
2. Identification method of young rabbits
When the rabbit is about three months old or older, the male rabbit will develop testicles at the root of the thigh, that is, near the genitals. The testicles are usually covered by the long hair of the rabbit, so you can push them with your fingers, feel them, or pull open the hair of the rabbit to judge.
3. Identification method of castrated rabbits
If you want to distinguish the male and female rabbits after castration, you should also check the rabbit's reproductive organs. You can gently point to both sides of the rabbit's reproductive organs with your hands and fingers, and then gently apply pressure to drop, and you will see a small tube at the top of the rabbit's reproductive organs. If it is a round hole, it is a male rabbit. On the contrary, it is a female rabbit.
What do adult rabbits think of male and female?
When the rabbit is about 8 ~10 weeks after birth, the male rabbit will grow testis. You can touch the rabbit's genitals near the anus with your hands, and you can intuitively feel a piece of meat slightly larger than the broad bean. A rabbit with this piece of meat is a male rabbit, while a rabbit without a piece of meat is a female rabbit. However, the meat pieces of different rabbits are large and small, so it is difficult for some rabbits with small meat pieces to tell the male from the female. But there is no hair on the scrotum of adult male rabbits, so it will be easier to distinguish.
When the rabbit starts estrus, the male rabbit's hind legs will often beat the ground and make a sound, and then they will chase after the female rabbit. It is easy to tell the male from the female during the estrus of the rabbit. When the male rabbit shows this behavior, he is courting the female rabbit and showing his existence to the other party. When the female rabbit is in estrus, she will secrete a special smell, and her tail will be lifted and swung constantly, which can make the secreted smell spread outward and use this smell to lure the male rabbit.
