Meizhou is a prefecture-level city in Guangdong Province.

Meizhou, located in northeastern Guangdong Province, is situated at the junction of Fujian, Guangdong, and Gan provinces, with a land area of 15,800 square kilometers. In the third year of Qianhe of the Southern Han Dynasty (945), Chengxiang was elevated to the status of Jingzhou, leading Chengxiang County. In the fourth year of Kaibao of the Song Dynasty (971), Jingzhou was changed to Meizhou.

In the 11th year of the Yongzheng reign of the Qing Dynasty (1733), Chengxiang was elevated to Jiaying Prefecture, with the jurisdiction of Chengxiang, Pingyuan, Zhenping, and the five counties of Xingning and Changle in the former Huizhou Prefecture, which were known as Jiaying Wuxi.
