What is the meaning of "plum blossom" in the lunar calendar? How did it come from?
At the end of the Meiyu period, the plum blossom is also called "broken plum", which means the date when the Meiyu ended. Meiyu in Jianghuai area of China usually ends on July 8- 12. In some years, the plum blossom period will be delayed, such as 1954 until August 2, and the plum rain period lasts for 63 days. After the meiyu, most areas entered the high temperature season in midsummer. Plum blossom is the first weekend after the slight summer heat. Therefore, the date of plum blossom in the almanac is between July 8 and 19, and the annual plum blossom period is relatively fixed and the same everywhere.
