Track and field is divided into three main disciplines: field events, track events, and all-around events.
People usually call walking and running events, which are measured in time, "track events", and jumping and throwing events, which are measured in distance and height, "field events". The all-around is a combined event.
Field events: 8 sports. Specific sports are high jump, pole vault, long jump, triple jump, shot put, discus, chain, javelin.
Track and field events: can be subdivided into 7 categories, 18 sports.
1, short-distance running, including 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash, 400-meter dash;
2, middle-distance running, including 800-meter race, 1500-meter race, 3000-meter race;
3, long-distance running, including 5,000-meter run, 10,000-meter run, marathon;
4, hurdles running, including 110 Hurdle running, including 110m hurdles (male), 100m hurdles (female), 400m hurdles;
5. Relay running, including 4X100m relay, 4X400m relay;
6. Obstacle course, including 400m obstacle course, 3,000m obstacle course;
7. Race Walking, including 20km race walking, 50km race walking.
The history of track and field
Track and field has a long history, originated in the human base survival and life activities, the earliest track and field competitions were held in the village of Olympia in ancient Greece in 776 B.C., since then, track and field has become one of the official competitions. By 648, the Olympics added jumping, javelin throwing, discus throwing and other competitions.
In 1894, in Paris, France, the establishment of the modern Olympic Games Organization, held in Athens, Greece, in 1896, the first modern Olympic Games, walking, running, jumping, throwing, and other 12 items are listed as the main items of the General Assembly. The success of the first Olympic Games marked the establishment of the modern track and field system.
