Northwest direction. The prefecture-level cities under the jurisdiction of Xianyang Province are in the northwest of Xi'an. First of all, from a historical perspective, when the Qin State established its capital in Xianyang, the southern region had not yet developed, so the Wei State in the Yellow River Basin was the center. Xianyang is located to the west of the Central Plains region, which makes Xianyang more northwestward geographically. Secondly, from a geographical perspective, Xianyang is located on the southern edge of the Loess Plateau and is the transition zone between the Northern Shaanxi Plateau and the Guanzhong Plain. Due to the special geographical location, Xianyang is regarded as part of the northwest region in terms of physical geography. Additionally, Xianyang is located in the Weihe River Basin, one of the largest river basins in northwest China. The Wei River Basin has played an important role in the development of the northwest region, and Xianyang is located in the center of this basin, which further strengthens the geographical location characteristics of the northwest region.
