Original form perennial herb. Bulb ovoid, the lower part of the short rhizome, on which most of the fibrous roots, bulb pieces with woolly inside. Leaves narrowly linear, basal, 15-20 cm long, 5-8 mm wide, smooth, adaxially concave. Flowering stems erect, 30 to 45 cm long, leaf-emerging first; inflorescences racemose, bracts small, linear; flowers small, light purplish red; perianth 6, lobes rectangular-orbicular, with 1 dark purple vein pattern; stamens 6, filaments flattened at base, apical; ovary flattened ellipsoidal, 3-locular, with 1 erect ovule per locule. Capsule obovate, 3-angled, 3-valved at maturity, 2-3 cm long. Seeds angular, black, glossy. Flowering period August to September. Fruiting September to October.

Habitat distribution Wild in the hills, mountain slopes or fields. It is distributed in most parts of the country. Produced in Jiangsu, Zhejiang and other places.
