What is contact dermatitis?
Simply put, it is the inflammatory reaction of skin and mucosa due to contact with exogenous substances. However, please note that this is not the same as inflammation caused by bacterial infection. The patient had an obvious contact history and a certain incubation period before onset, and the skin lesions were limited to the contact site, mainly manifested as erythema, papules, blisters, erosion and exudation, and self-conscious itching. The course of the disease is self-limited, and it can be cured by itself after removing the cause.
What are the reasons?
1. Irritating contact dermatitis. Some people unfortunately use the "three noes" mask, and the material has a problem that irritates the skin, causing erythema, swelling and tingling (anyone can get sick after contact);
2. Allergic contact dermatitis. Masks are qualified products, but very few people are allergic to the material of masks. After a certain incubation period, their faces begin to become red and itchy (most people do not get sick after contact, only a few people will get sick);
3. Sensitive skin skin irritation. People who use masks are sensitive skin (there is a problem with their own skin barrier), and skin irritation occurs after wearing masks for a long time until they are wet and warm.
How to deal with contact dermatitis?
1. Avoid further contact. This is not only an important treatment, but also a major preventive measure.
① When wearing a mask, if you are sensitive to muscles, you can put medical cotton gauze on the inner layer of the mask (the gauze should be updated in time), which can not only separate the skin from the material of the mask, but also keep the mask dry by replacing the inner layer gauze, thus prolonging the use time of the mask;
(2) If conditions permit, it is recommended to wear different masks alternately (ear-hanging type, lace-up type, head-wearing type, etc.) to avoid excessive pressure and stimulation on the same part.
2. Avoid subjective stimulation. When clinical symptoms appear, local irritation should be minimized, scratching should be avoided, and hot water should not be used for scalding.
3. Distinguish between light and heavy disposal. If the inflammatory reaction is mild, it can heal itself as long as the contact substance is removed, because only mild erythema, itching or tingling appear locally, you can clean your skin with clear water, apply moisturizing cream/milk and repair the skin barrier yourself; For those with obvious inflammatory reaction, they should seek medical advice in time and actively take oral medication.
4. External drugs should be treated differently according to different symptoms. For patients with erythema and papules, calamine lotion can be used (it does not contain hormones and has astringent and protective effects); Those with obvious swelling and swelling, accompanied by blisters, erosion and exudation, should be applied with 3% boric acid solution to control exudation, several times a day, each time 15~20 minutes, usually for 2 ~ 3 days. When the exudation is obviously reduced, zinc oxide oil should be used instead (it contains no hormone and has astringent and protective effects), and when there is no exudation, glucocorticoid cream and calcineurin inhibitor should be applied externally. Antibiotic ointment, such as erythromycin ointment and Baiduobang ointment, should be used externally during infection.
5. Simplify skin care. In fact, life doesn't need to be too complicated, so does skin care. Simplifying skin care is to reduce the burden on the skin. Using too many products and too complicated skin care procedures at ordinary times is not conducive to improving the skin, but makes the skin involved. Some soothing and alcohol-free humectants should be selected to promote the repair of skin wounds. Be patient and give your skin a chance to "rest".
6. Manage your emotions. Don't be pessimistic and irritable due to illness, be optimistic and confident, and insist on active and reasonable treatment.
