The king snake is found in Asia, Europe and America. China produces 16 species, the country's provinces and regions are distributed. It inhabits coastal lowlands and inland plains, hills and mountains, and is common in streams, rice paddies, ponds and their vicinity. Some species live on mountain slopes or roadsides, tea hills, cornfields, dry barren slopes, thickets, cemeteries and rock piles, etc. In addition, they are also found at the edge of villages and even inside houses.
