After reading the principle
I am reading a book called Principles recently, which is the work of Ray Dalio, the founder of Bridgewater, a famous American hedge fund company. I feel some golden sentences. Excerpts are shared here.

1. In order to act effectively, you can't let the demand of "wanting to be right" overwhelm the demand of "finding out the truth".

In fact, behind this sentence is a big misunderstanding that affects our decision-making, that is, self-cognitive obstacle, which refers to the subconscious defense mechanism in our brain, and it will make it difficult for you to accept your mistakes and weaknesses. And this often makes us unable to see things accurately, and so will others.

2. Recognize that decision-making should be divided into two steps: first analyze all relevant information, and then make a decision.

? ? There are two steps in decision-making, but the former is often ignored in the actual process. This is to remind us not to make blind decisions without sufficient information analysis. People usually try to prove that they have a way out when there is no way out. Why do people do such unproductive things? This is generally because they believe in a common absurd view: powerful people know all the answers and have no shortcomings. What if the information is incomplete? We can compare the value of more information with the cost of not making decisions and decide the priority.

? You are looking for the best answer, not the best answer you can get.

This is also a misunderstanding, that is, we often regard our own answers as the only way to solve problems, and many times when we look at problems from another angle, the methods and answers that can achieve our goals come from the answers that can be obtained after breaking our own limitations and keeping an open mind.

? ? When making rules, we should explain the principles behind the rules clearly.

This is deeply felt in the works. With the release and formulation of many rules and the iteration and update of products, few authors try to throw out the motivation of change, the origin and significance of the rules, which brings greater misunderstanding.

The worst mistake a person makes is that he can't face his own mistakes.

If you are like most people, you will be nervous in the face of undisguised facts. In order to overcome this tension, you need to understand from your heart that lies are more terrible than facts, so you should practice and get used to being with facts, even if facts run counter to your own decisions.

? ? 6. There is a difference between fairness and generosity.

? Sometimes people mistake generosity for unfairness. For example, you bought two birthday presents for your best friend, one of which is more expensive than the other. What should you say if a friend who gets a cheaper gift accuses you of being unfair? Probably say something like this: "I don't have to give you a gift, stop complaining." Clear boundaries and stand on the other side of fairness. This boundary should be based on the exchange relationship between the parties. After distinguishing what is generosity, we can determine what is fair, what is appropriate and what is necessary.

? ? 7. Measure the credibility of the speech.

? When there are differences, don't just listen and don't close your mind, but try to understand each other's reasoning process rather than a single result. When people disagree, we should combine opinions and credibility to weigh the comprehensive evaluation. In the author's opinion, the following two types of people are more likely to produce credible opinions. (1) Successfully solved related problems at least three times; (2) The conclusion of causality analysis is very reasonable. Anyone who can't do any of the above is not to be trusted. For those who can do one of them, it can be considered to have certain credibility. If you can do these two things, it is the most credible. We should pay special attention to some people who have no practical experience but just talk big and have no good logic. These people are not good to themselves and others.

? ? 8. Finding the right person is more important than doing anything.

? The author believes that behind everything are human factors. If you have a goal, you can divide it into several steps to achieve it. 1. Remember what the goal is. 2. Set goals for competent people (this is the best situation), or tell them what to do to achieve their goals. 3. Let them perform their duties. If they are still not qualified for the job after you train them and give them time to study, then resign. In this process, we should open our minds and hire more people who are better than us. "I didn't really understand the meaning of this sentence when I was a child. Now, after decades of employment, management and layoffs, I understand that to be truly successful. I need to be the conductor of all the staff. Many, if not all, of them play musical instruments better than me. If I am really a great conductor, I can find a conductor who is better than me and recruit them. My ultimate goal is to create a machine that works very well, and I just need to sit by and enjoy it. "

? ? 9. Don't dwell on "complaining" or "praising", but pay attention to "accuracy" or "inaccuracy"

? ? This is actually very interesting. It points directly to the level of what we see. The so-called right thing, whether we look at the connotation or extension, whether it is the means or the purpose, is not for people to see. Get rid of complaints and praises and pay attention to the accuracy of the content. This is the real question. Paying attention to other people's "complaints", "praises" or "positive" and "negative" comments is not conducive to your learning from repeated work. Remember, let bygones be bygones, and don't dwell on it except as a lesson for the future.

10. Think about which role you want to play as a teacher, student or colleague, and whether you should preach, ask questions or argue.

This is also the last point. We play different roles, each with its own emphasis. In real life, most people have become "only exporting but not absorbing", blindly exporting and ignoring input, which will lead to our blind area becoming bigger and bigger, our vision becoming narrower and narrower, and it is easier to fall into our own experience misunderstanding.

Three pictures in each issue, the brain hole is bigger than yours. (Question 1 19)

1. weight+bus seat

This advertisement is very interesting. Its view is that the author not only combines the weight with the bus stop, but also combines the weight with the seat. If we turn every different type of seat into weighing scale, how terrible and even interesting the world will be. Let's talk about the inspiration from our recent life. When we went to eat a string, we found that the number of strings was actually a number calculated by weighing a stick first, then weighing the whole stick and dividing it by a single mass. This is different from the usual string stringing method, but the goal is the same, but it saves a lot of manpower cost and time, which is amazing.

2. Express box on billboard

? This huge express advertisement actually expresses the weight of express delivery in the same way. If you have a heavy delivery, you can call us DHL. Because this huge advertisement has an updated image, it has realized a deep sense of scene memory for the passing audience.

3. Compare series advertisements

This advertisement is more like a process draft. The double-sided superimposed picture is one of the processes, and the different degrees of uncovering of the left and right pictures is the second process. The contrast between the left and right and the double-faced surface directly reveals the effect of the product. At the same time, all kinds of advertisements for skin and cosmetics are mixed with changes. We can try a double-sided draft of this process to reveal the contrast on the one hand and the process and results on the other.
