The taxonomic position and distribution of Scapharca subcrenata;
Scapharca subcrenata, commonly known as Scapharca subcrenata, Scapharca subcrenata, Reptilidae and Scapharca subcrenata, is mainly distributed in the coastal areas of China, Korea and Japan. China, Bohai Sea and East China Sea are farther offshore. Living in the mud and sand bottom with water depth 10 meter above the low tide line in the shallow sea of the inner bay, especially near the estuary where fresh water flows out, it is mostly 4-8 meters.
Morphological characteristics:
The adult shell is 4-5 cm long, the shell surface is oval, the two shells are unequal, and the top of the shell protrudes outward and rolls inward, leaning forward; There are 30-44 radial ribs on the shell surface, and square nodules appear on the ribs; The hinge is straight, with about 50 teeth; The shell is white and covered with brown fluff skin.
Biological characteristics:
The digestive organ consists of mouth, esophagus, stomach, intestine and anus. The main foods are diatoms and organic debris. The gonads surround the digestive gland (visceral mass). When sexually mature, the female gonad is purple and the male is yellow and white. The genital foramen is located on the ventral surface of the posterior obturator internus, with the left and right 1. Eggs (50-60 microns in diameter) are fertilized and hatched in seawater. Scapharca subcrenata living in Liaodong Bay of Bohai Sea mostly lays eggs from early July to early August. During the breeding period, there are 2-3 peaks of sperm egg excretion, with an interval of about half a month each time. Left-handed and right-handed individuals with a shell length of 4 cm can ovulate 2-3 million at a time. The spawning water temperature is mostly between 25-27℃. Larvae floating in seawater, entering the trochophore stage of D-shaped larvae. At 150 micron, the top of the shell is obviously larger than the height of the shell and close to the ellipse. When the shell grows to 220 microns, "eye spots" appear and will soon enter the attached metamorphosis life. The whole floating period takes about 16- 17 days. After the larvae end their floating life, they attach themselves to solid objects such as sand, shells and seaweed with enough silk. Foot silk is banded and exists for life; After shedding, it has the ability to regenerate and attach. When the shell length is 1.2- 1.5 cm, it falls into the bottom of the sea and lives shallowly, and grows into a shell in about 2-2.5 years.
