What is fiberboard?

Fiberboard, also known as density board, is a kind of board made of wood or plant fiber as the main raw material, adding additives and adhesives under the condition of heating and pressure. Fiberboard is waterproof, its hygroscopicity is smaller than that of wood, and its shape stability and antibacterial property are better. Fiberboard has uniform structure, smooth and delicate board surface, easy to carry out various finishing treatments, good dimensional stability, uniform core layer and varied thickness, size and specifications, which can meet various needs. According to different bulk density, fiberboard is divided into low density board, medium density board and high density board.

the specifications of general profiles are 122mm× 244mm, and the thickness is 3 ~ 25mm.

Most fiberboards used in home decoration are medium density fiberboards. The medium density fiberboard is a board with a density of .5 ~ .88g/cm3, which is made of wood fiber or other plant fiber, urea-formaldehyde resin or other synthetic resin, and pressed under the condition of heating and pressure. Other suitable additives can also be added to improve the characteristics of the board. Medium density fiberboard has good physical and mechanical properties and processability, and can be made into plates with different thicknesses, so it is widely used in indoor decoration.

fiberboard can be divided into different types in the following ways.

(1) according to the classification of raw materials: wood fiber board, which is processed from wood processing waste; Non-wood fiberboard, which is made of reeds, straw and other herbs and bamboo.

(2) classified according to treatment methods: extra-hard fiberboard, which is treated with reinforcing agent or oil, has good strength and water resistance and can be used indoors and outdoors; Ordinary hard fiberboard, which is a fiberboard without special treatment.

(3) Classification by bulk density: high-density fiberboard, with bulk density greater than 8kg/m3; Medium density fiberboard, its bulk density is 5 ~ 7 kg/m3; Low density fiberboard, its bulk density is less than 4 kg/m3.
