Type and Characteristics: The body is long and laterally flattened, and the dorsal outline of the head is straight from the muzzle to the eyes, with the latter position convex. Juveniles do not have a bulge on the head; adults develop a prominent raised bulge on the forehead. The pectoral fins are short; the caudal fin is rounded. The body is yellowish brown to green with dark straight lines on the scales. The head has two black lines extending diagonally from the top of the eye toward the top of the back. Another two black lines begin in front of the eyes and extend below the muzzle.
