Mother's Day, is a holiday to thank mothers. The holiday first appeared in ancient Greece; while the modern Mother's Day originated in the United States and is celebrated on the second Sunday of May every year. Mothers usually receive gifts on this day; carnations are considered to be flowers dedicated to mothers, while the Chinese mother's flower is the daylily flower, also known as the forget-me-not.

The tradition of Mother's Day has its roots in the worship of the goddess in ancient Greece.In the mid-17th century, Mother's Day spread to England. The United States Mrs. Jarvis mother and daughter to commemorate and praise their mothers lifelong unremitting, in 1914 the United States Congress formally established the second Sunday in May each year for Mother's Day, President Wilson took the lead in his own residence to hang the flag festival to express the love and respect for the United States of America for all mothers. After that, supported by many countries around the world, May 11 every year to become an international Mother's Day.
