Liu Sha Bao (A Traditional Chinese Dim Sum)

Flowing sand buns are a traditional Chinese snack, loved for their lovely shape, soft texture and rich filling. Here is how to make this delicious dim sum.

Preparing materials

The main ingredients for making quicksand buns are flour, sugar, oil, eggs, milk, baking powder, cornstarch and red bean paste filling.

Procedure

1. Mix the flour, sugar, baking powder and corn starch together, add egg, oil and milk and knead the dough. Note that the dough should be kneaded until it is smooth and elastic.

2. Roll out the kneaded dough into a thin sheet and cut it into small rounds using a mold.

3. Place the red bean paste filling in the center of the small rounds, then wrap the dough and pinch it into a petal shape.

4. Put the wrapped quicksand buns into a steamer and steam for 10-15 minutes.

Note

1. When kneading the dough, pay attention to the ratio of flour to liquid so that the dough is not too dry or too wet.

2. When wrapping the quicksand buns, wrap the filling tightly so that the quicksand will not flow out after steaming.

3. When steaming quicksand buns, pay attention to the fire, so as not to steam paste or undercooked.
