Medicinal name white peony, hang white peony, raw white peony, fried white peony, large white peony.
The properties and flavors are bitter, sour and slightly cold. Attributes to liver and spleen meridians.
EffectsTo tonify blood, astringent Yin, soften the liver, relieve pain.
Main Treatment
1. Tonifying blood: used in the treatment of:
(1) Blood deficiency, dysmenorrhea, disintegration and leakage of menstruation, accompanied by dizziness and fatigue, palpitation and insomnia.
(2) Blood deficiency with loss of nourishment of the liver veins, contracture of the limbs, stiffness of the joints, and unfavorable flexion and extension.
2. Convergence of Yin and softening of the Liver: used in treating:
(1) depletion of Yin in the late stage of fever, chi-zong, dryness of the mouth and lack of thirst, deficiency of the pulse and redness of the tongue.
(2) Deficiency of liver yin, hyperactivity of liver yang, dizziness, tinnitus, numbness of limbs.
3. Relief of pain: used for the treatment of:
(1) pain in the abdomen, chest and hypochondrium, such as deficiency of cold in the middle jiao, pain in the abdomen and hypochondrium.
(2) Liver qi is not relieved, coercive and rib pain.
(3) Deficiency of Yin and Blood, pain in the calves.
In addition, Paeonia lactiflora can also treat:
