AOC is the highest grade of French red wine.
Grape varieties, planting quantity, brewing technology and alcohol content in the producing area must be certified by experts. Only grapes grown in the country of origin can be used for brewing, and grape juice from other places is not allowed for blending. AOC production accounts for about 35% of total French red wine production. The bottle label is labeled as title+name of origin.
There are 400 legal producing areas in France, and the origin of red wine can be known from the name of the wine. The smaller the marked place of origin, the higher the grade of wine. For example, it is also AOC wine, and the domain name Medoc is more advanced than the local name Bordeaux.
