Rui [ruì]

Rui (Pinyin: ruì) is a Chinese character (commonly used) in the universal standardized first level of the Chinese language. The character was first used in the Bao Shan Chu Kan of the Warring States period. Ruì originally referred to a kind of token, usually made of jade, whose function was equivalent to that of a seal, i.e., the ancient official seal. The character "Rui" was later extended to mean good omen.

Origin of the character:

The left part of the character from the "jade", indicating that the original meaning of this character is related to jade.
