Fathead carp is bighead carp or silver carp
The bighead carp is a bighead carp, which is also known as bighead carp, big-headed carp, black carp, etc. Together with the white silver carp (silver carp), it is called bighead carp and belongs to the four big fishes. Bighead carp has a laterally flattened and extended body, small eyes, wide mouth, and a larger head, among which the bighead carp has a larger head with a wide front, and its head grows larger than its body length, so it is called the fathead carp. Although both bighead carp and silver carp belong to the bighead carp family, there are significant differences between bighead carp and silver carp in terms of head size, morphology and living habits, etc. The bighead carp is mainly distributed in the eastern part of Asia, and also distributed in all major water systems in China, but the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River Basin are the main places of origin, and the bighead carp inhabits in the upper and middle layers of running water or larger bodies of static water, such as freshwater lakes, rivers, reservoirs, and ponds, etc., and it is a typical filter feeding fish, with food for branchiopods. It is a typical filter-feeding fish, and its food is zooplankton and some phytoplankton such as branchiostoma and copepods.
