Puppies: refers to puppies from birth to weaning (about 45 days old); puppies do not open their eyes until 12-15 days after birth. They have poor mobility, but they grow quickly and have nutritional needs. The need is relatively high. Therefore, puppies should be raised in the following ways:
1. Get colostrum in a timely manner. The milk secreted by a female dog within 1 week after giving birth is colostrum. Colostrum is rich in r-globulin. After being absorbed by the intestines, antibodies are formed in the puppies' bodies, which can enhance the puppies' disease resistance. Puppies must eat colostrum in time, otherwise r-globulin will be destroyed by digestive juices. Colostrum is thicker and has high nutritional content. VA is 10 times that of normal milk, and VD is 3 times that of normal milk. It is rich in protein, fat, and iron. It has high acidity, which is beneficial to digestive activities. Its high viscosity protects the gastrointestinal mucosa. ; The high mineral content has a laxative effect and is beneficial to the discharge of meconium. The stomach of a puppy has digestive function 5 hours after birth. Therefore, the puppy must eat colostrum within 12-48 hours after birth. It is best to have colostrum within 6 hours after birth. Under normal circumstances, the female dog’s colostrum is completely sufficient for the puppies to eat. If artificial feeding is required, feed it every 3 hours in the first week; feed it every 4 hours in the second to third weeks; after 20 days, feed it every 6 hours. Feed once an hour. Artificial milk formula: 1 egg, 300 grams of concentrated bone broth, appropriate amount of baby cake powder, 200 ml of fresh milk, mix and cook. After it cools down, add 1g of lysine, 0.6g of methionine, 2g of fast fat, appropriate amount of salt (0.5%), and filter with gauze.
2. Artificial supplementary feeding. 20 days after the bitch gives birth, her milk production begins to decrease. Generally, supplementary feeding starts from 15 days after birth. Feed fresh milk, rice, and meat every day. The milk is about 100 ml per day, and the milk temperature is between 27-30°C. Each person should be fed 3-4 times. After 20 days of age, feed 200 ml of milk every day. You can also refer to the noodle supplement recipe: 500 grams of lean meat or offal (minced), 3 eggs, 300 grams of cornmeal, 300 grams of flour, 500 grams of vegetables (chopped), appropriate amount of auxin, 4 grams of salt, mix well Then add water to make steamed buns and cook them. When feeding, add 5 grams of lysine, 3 grams of methionine, 10 grams of fast fat, an appropriate amount of multi-vitamins sprinkled on the cold steamed buns, and a little bone broth for the puppies to lick.
3. Artificial feeding. When a dog dies, has too many litters, or lacks breast milk after childbirth, artificial feeding of the puppies should be carried out in a timely manner, and milk or milk powder can be used. Since dog milk is thicker than milk, feeding milk alone is not nutritious. You need to add some milk powder to raw milk to feed the puppies. Except for the death of the female dog, the newborn puppies must be allowed to eat colostrum to enhance their disease resistance and improve their survival rate. Artificial breastfeeding method: Within 10 days after the puppy is born, the amount of milk fed per person is about 100 ml. The tool can be replaced by a baby feeding bottle, and the puppy is fed 4-6 times a day. After opening its eyes, let it practice its feeding ability, feed it with a plate, and let it lick food. 10-20 days after birth, the amount of milk supplement is about 300 ml. After 25 days, train the puppies to eat porridge-like food by themselves. In about 45 days, you can stop breastfeeding completely and eat porridge-like food instead.
4. Foster care. This method is suitable for situations where the bitch has too many litters, the bitch dies after giving birth, the bitch has little or no milk after giving birth, etc. At this time, let other nursing bitches raise the puppies (find a wet nurse or a nanny dog). This method is much more beneficial to the growth and development of puppies than artificial feeding. However, the delivery time requirements of the two litters of dogs are similar, the breed size is basically the same, and the age difference is generally no more than 3 days. Breastfeeding method: A mother dog identifies her puppies by their smell. We can use this feature to complete the work of engraving milk, that is, before engraving, apply the milk or fecal dilution of the nanny dog ??to the foster puppy, and the area should be larger, so that the nanny dog's smell will be on the body. , so that it is easy to be accepted by the nanny dog.
