The planting area is the largest in Asia, followed by Africa and the third in America. 1985 The cultivated area of sweet potato in the world is 8.003 million hectares, and the total output is114.38 million tons. Sweet potatoes are widely distributed in China, and most of them are produced in Huaihai Plain, Yangtze River Basin and southeast coastal provinces.
The whole country is divided into five potato regions: northern spring potato region, Huanghuai spring potato region, Yangtze River summer potato region, southern summer potato region and southern autumn potato region.
